Art Challenge "ROOM" (with a view)

Hello everyone!

It's been a while on this neglected blog, but trying to put up this post
for this weeks art challenge from our lovely Nadine, I know why:
it's a whole lot of work!

But fun too. Rambling over ideas how to put this challenge into pictures.

Out theme today "ROOM".
There are trillions of possibilities to interpret the theme but I was going
with the idea of room as a place to create like a studio for example.

But hot as it is these day my studio is going to be to HOT and
glistening sunlight in the afternoon simple blinds you.

And as we had to many rainy days this summer I like to jump
onto every possibility to be outside and turn the garden into my
part time studio

or the terrace

raskog (ikea) part time studio make up
Above pic is for you Ariane.... you know why.

or find a nice comfy room at the sea (one of my favorite places)

During my 365 days collage project I brought my studio even to the camping ground.

And sometimes you can turn a coffee shop in a room of ones own...

Or carry your stuff to your friends rooms...

hope-for-Nadine-pic "cool down"

Thank you so much Nadine-tje for this challenge and this pic
is especially for you to cool down mentally cause winter isn't
so far away and you can breathe again.

Wish you a happy weekend/holiday/summer

dc #190 Metamorphose II

Hello my dear friends,

this weekend our lovely Rose invited us to play one more time with the theme
"Metamorphose".

Metamorphose can simply be described as some sort of transformation.

Here the metamorphose of a sketchbook page....

first I added some paper scaps

than a bit of paint and color

a bit of ink dripping

followed by some line drawing

and the metamorphose is completed!

If there is no developement no transformation, there is death -
like in my flower boxes.

Time for some transformation.

For more metamorphoses please visit Arianes'/Rose' lovely blog.

For those who are interested to see the complete process of the journal page
the "making off" video will be posted next wednesday - so stay tuned!

Wish you a nice and springlike weekend!

drawing challenge "CALM"

This weeks drawing challenge is tributed to the theme "CALM"
from our lovely host Veronica.

While I'm sitting here thick fluffy snow flakes fall from the sky
and this feels for me calming.

The world gets a little more quiet  and calm with snow and it reflects
more light on a grey winter day which is especially welcome
after all this damn grey nasty rainy days!

But this wasn't what I initially wanted to contribute to the theme.
I guess we all suffer of to much distraction from outside, not only
bad political news, but also all this plings, tweets and zirps all
day long around us.

Sometimes it really drives my crazy and still I feel addicted and
I know I have to reduce it for not losing my conection to
my true inner self - I hardly can remember who that was.
Therefore bought a new sketchbook (and here the same: do I
need another sketchbook? Certainly not!) and a small watercolor
box and  started to draw/paint this little birds to keep my mind
focused on something beautiful and nature related and hopefully
calm my distracted mind and get more focuse again.

So keep calm and draw on and don't forget to Veronicas' site and
find all the other beautiful contributions.

Wish you a nice sunday

drawing challenge "tiny"

Ha!

For this weeks drawing challenge Tammy has chosen the theme "TINY"
As it is called drawing challenge I thougt I show a drawing. Ha!

sketchbook drawing by barbara böttcher - Radiolarie

As I thought about the word "tiny", I noticed the very fascinating
drawings of Ernst Haeckel of Radiolaria, which are microscopic
small single-celled organisms that live in the sea, or rather their skeletons.

Radiolaria

Man who so willingly considers himself omniscient and says he knew
everything and has everything under control is not conscious about how
small our optical spectrum actually is! Because
everything less than 1mm, we can not really see very good anymore.
So  a lot of really tiny things
remain hidden.
Thanks to electron scanning microscopes made visible
we are now able to see the fascinating shapes of this Radiolaria.

Wimperntierchen

Alle nachfolgenden Fotos habe ich hier gefunden.
Tolle Seite unbedingt mal reingucken!

I have found all subsequent pictures here.
Great site worthwhile a peek!

Kochsalz - salt

For example, I am fascinated by the idea that you sprinkle a kind of square concrete blocks
(Pictured above) ie saline on your food.

Blütenblätter einer Rose - rose leaves
Blütenknospe Baldrian
- Valerian flower bud

The world is so much more fascinating than we can ever imagine, if we
only would  be able to see the really tiny things.

Foto Planetarium Hamburg
gezeichnet habe.

Wie war das Thema noch mal? Winzig?

And if we could also watch yet the bigger picture, we could also see
that we are tiny. Because we can not not just see the tiny things
but the really big ones either. Because our earth throughout Universe
is not even as big as the fly shit dot I initially drew in my sketchbook.

What was the topic again? Tiny? I do not know what that is!
Because tiny  things can be big and large quite small.

I wish you much fun with the tiny and big things that
there is to see all at Tammys 'page!

drawing challenge - second hand

For the first time Joke  from Spiegel-Beeld ist our host for this weekends
drawing challenge with the very welcome theme SECOND HAND.

For a frenetic flea market goers like me  the theme 2nd hand
is a clear self-perpetuating thing.
Because second hand is nearly everywhere...

for example in the hallway
(click to enlarge  all pics, if you like to have a clearer look)

or in the living room

And of course this is only a small part of the actual disaster!

This year I had given me a certain amount of fleamarket-ban, and often had no
time anyway, but the few times I was there, I have of course added properly!

Even a giant brain cell, cause of such you can never have enough!

and very rarely old photos for collages

and I'm always happy to find nice rings, but sometimes a particular one
is made for another woman, so it changed owners. Sigh.

But before you liquefies in pity for my generosity
I can only say this is very unnecessary,
it's not the only ring I've ever found!
From necklaces and bracelets not even talking here.

I hope you had fun to observe all my finds, as I had collecting them for this
theme with which I had a lot of fun. And do not miss to go to Joke to
see the other entries!

Wish you a nice sunday
Barbara
